The multiplayer needs balance or to allow mods to balance the game at that level, either way. Just last night there was only like 8 games hosted. mods will eventually come that will balance this and be the go to standard for LAN, but since we can't do these mods (currently) in multiplayer, it seems doomed that the multiplayer will stay alive. GL IDk why the answer has to be "refund and deal with this mediocre balance game", i put 40 hours into it, beat every campaign already on hard (red alert). It's really thrilling and stressful to play competitive & got much better meta: Other good recent & very multiplayer heavy remaster: Age of empires 2 HD edition.
My personal recommendation, if you can ignore base building & like to focus more on tactical troop attacks: Buy Dawn of war2 for competitive multiplayer.

There's no reason to leave it in this state and even all of you are agreeing it's no good P Then refund and play remaster starcraft or warcraft or whatever RTS are left out there. That is fine, they have plenty of more modern, more competitively focused RTS's to choose from. Players who are used to (or enjoy) the kind of competitive balancing we see now are going to have issues with the old C&C games. The thing that some keep missing here is that there is a distinct difference between the kind of balancing we saw for "casual" focused RTS's like these old Command and Conquer titles and the aggressively competitive/e-sport style balancing we see in more modern RTS's.
In the next era of military strategy and might, youll need to command a more technologically advanced arsenal to defeat new, more powerful enemies. It wasn't really until StarCraft (and even then, not right away) that players really started adopting high-level competitive play as something approaching the norm. Prepare to unleash the absolute latest in modern weapons technology against the worlds most powerful Generals in Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour. There absolutely were tournaments back then but that doesn't change the fact that the concept of competitive meta didn't really exist back when these games were first released. Any form of Player vs Player game can be competitive of the player base believes that it can. I'm sure there was some competitive merit to the game. People won prizes per month on westwood and were tournaments, 25 years ago. I think we should wait for red alert 2 for more competitive online game play.
